Apps I Love: Notion

automation apps

If you’re a lover of Evernote, there’s another app that needs your attention: Notion.

Notion is an all-in-one workspace that positions itself as ‘one tool for your whole team’ and ‘the all-in-one workspace for your notes, tasks, wikis, and databases.’ With key support offered for functionality across areas including product management, engineering, HR, design, sales and marketing, Notion is designed around the premise of bringing teams together, removing siloed experiences and the challenges that can come with disparate workflows and core information systems.

If you think of Notion as a personal Wikipedia-cross-productivity-hub, you’d be well on the right track. Notion offers features such as…

  • The ability to create team wikis, with their offer to ‘turn your tribal knowledge into easy-to-find answers’
  • Project and task management, with views including Kanban boards, tables, lists, charts and more, and fully customisable to any workflow
  • Streamlined notes and documentation management, with systems designed around thought organisation that are robust enough to house any type of content
  • Real-time collaboration, with comments tagging coworkers in order to bring new information and conversations to their attention across documents
  • Space to work solo or in a team, with documents kept private, or shared with the full company
  • Embedding of existing tools, with 50+ tools able to live within Notion pages (including Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Drive, Figma, Invision, Latex, Typeform, Twitter and Github Gist)

Notion offers easy insight across how their customer base use Notion in their everyday workflows via their customer stories. If you’re interested in having a peek around how diverse users such as YouTubers, Typeform’s product team, Blinkist and Duolingo implement Notion across their team ops on a daily basis, dive into their workflows here.

A quick hunt of Twitter reviews brings about raving feedback such as ‘been working with @NotionHQ over the past couple of weeks as our new knowledge base and collaborate system (and to keep track of my own work and projects too), and it’s an utter delight. Highly recommended tool for distributed teams!’, with other comments including ‘for those who love notes, organisation and crisp + clean design, @NotionHQ is a thing of beauty.’

At the end of the day, work’s about the work, and not about the labour it takes to get into a productive mindset. If you’re struggling with your current workflow to find effective ways to manage information, communication and collaboration, Notion can do the heavy lifting and free you up to focus on the work itself.

Time to try it out for yourself? Trials are free, and personal use is free forever.

Happy organising!
